ABOUT McDONALD MODULAR
December 1939 - January 2012
In 1970, Bruce McDonald founded what we now call McDonald Modular Solutions, selling 'McDonald Mobile Offices' out of our original Southfield location. Under Bruce's leadership, the company became an exclusive dealer of mobile offices and expanded to include product lines such as classrooms, hospitals, in-plant offices, storage containers, and Dura-Space buildings.
With a history of innovation, McDonald Mobile Offices became the first mobile office dealer in the country to be registered as an ISO 9000 company in 1999. And we changed our name to McDonald Modular Solutions in 2001 to better reflect our offerings of both mobile and modular products.
As one of the founders of Manufactured Structures Corp., Mr. McDonald remained active as owner and a member of the company's Board of Directors. He was also the Past President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association; served on the Michigan Mobile Home Commission from 1980 to 1985, and in 2005 was Vice Chairman of the Commission. Mr. McDonald also served three years--1991 to 1993--as a director of the Modular Building Institute, the international trade association for commercial modular construction and in 1994, received that organization's Outstanding Achievement Award. And, in 2006, Mr. McDonald was inducted into the MBI Hall of Fame.
In 2009, Mr. McDonald led the organization to innovate once again by supporting a company-wide initiative to design and build our products in an eco-friendly way for the future. We initiated, and are leading an industry trend in green building. We are currently at work on several projects.
Mr. McDonald led this company for more than 40 years and began a history of innovation and product excellence that we will continue to offer to our clients and vendors now, and in the future.
Bruce McDonald, the president and CEO of McDonald Modular Solutions Inc. in Detroit, and co-founder of Manufactured Structures Corp. of Rochester, Indiana, died January 10, 2012
